As I sit here preparing for the holiday season and reflecting on 2018, both good and sad thoughts come to mind. While my dear friend Art Washburn, friend to so many people, will not be with us once again, what would have been his 52nd birthday this year fell one day before the 100th anniversary of the end of The Great War – World War I. So in what may be times of sadness, this confluence of dates reminds me of so many things for which I am thankful…
the end of that awful war and others that came later – may another one like it never repeat itself!
all of our wonderful clients far and wide who have put their trust in us – thank you, thank you!
every person on our Alpha Omega team – LeAnn, Holly, Lynn, Maggie, Carl, Chris, Clay, Clement, Eric and Everett – what a pleasure it is to work with each of you!
And for my fantastic wife and family – who some days want to disown me, but are always a big support – Merci!
So as you consider what makes you thankful this year and in years to come, read this poem and menu from American troops in France in World War 1 for their Thanksgiving Day meal on November 28, 1918.
From our extended family to yours may you have a very enjoyable Thanksgiving and Holiday season 2018!!
Now sit down ye warriors bold,
eat, drink and sing as in days of old.
Tis said that man and beast and bird some day has its inning.
The turn comes now for men who fight; give thanks above "La Guerre est Finie."
